Biggest Explosion Since Big Bang Detected
A group of astronomers recently detected the biggest explosion seen since Big Bang, that is, the beginning of the universe.
Ophiuchus and the Explosion
- The study was led by International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research- a joint venture between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia.
- The discovery was made using four telescopes: NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, ESA’s XMM-Newton, the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) in Western Australia and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in India.
- The blast came from a supermassive black hole at the centre of the Ophiuchus cluster of galaxies, about 390 million light years away. The cluster ....
