Historical Background
The collapse of the erstwhile Soviet Union in 1991 led to the creation of five Central Asian Republics: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Each one of them were conquered by Imperial Russia in the nineteenth century and, was tightly controlled by them.
It was only in the 1950s that local politicians and economists were able to convince their counterparts in Moscow to invest in industrialization of this region.
From the time they gained independence from Moscow, each one of them followed their own path and trajectory of development story.
