Truenat-MTB: Indian Diagnostic Tool in WHO Global Tuberculosis Programme
WHO Global Tuberculosis Programme has included Truenat-MTB- an Indian molecular assay- as initial test for detecting TB and for identifying resistant strains of the TB bacteria.The development is a result of Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR) efforts to promote indigenous technologies for diagnosis of TB.
Truenat-MTB
- Truenat-MTB, developed by Goa-based Molbio Diagnostics, is a chip-based real-time PCR test for detection of pulmonary and extrapulmonary, multi-drug and extensively drug resistant TB(MDR/ XDR TB).
- It is a rapid, portable, near-patient, point-of-care system with touchscreen, real-time data management and analytics capability.
