UN Food Systems Summit 2021
On 23rd September, 2021, the first UN Food Systems Summit, 2021, was held in New York(US).
- The Summit was announced on World Food Day(16 October) in October, 2020 as a part of the Decade of Action for delivery on the SDGs by 2030.
Aim
- To deliver progress on all 17 of the SDGs through a food systems approach, leveraging the interconnectedness of food systems to global challenges such as hunger, climate change, poverty and inequality.
Major Highlights
- There is a need to achieve the United Nations-mandated Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030 and address climate change in view of food production.
