DNA Technology Bill
The DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2019 was introduced in Lok Sabha by the Minister for Science and Technology on July 8, 2019.
Aim of the Bill
- The Bill provides for the regulation of use of DNA technology for establishing the identity of certain persons.
- The Bill seeks to create a regulatory framework for obtaining, storing and testing of DNA samples of human beings, mainly for the purposes of criminal investigations, and with the objective of establishing the identity of a person.
