Ecosystem Restoration

  • "Ecosystem Restoration for People, Nature, and Climate" was published by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on 8th June 2021.
  • The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration: 2021-2030 report was prepared in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
  • Restoration of Ecosystems: Ecosystem restoration entails assisting in the recovery of ecosystems that have been degraded or destroyed, as well as the preservation of intact ecosystems.

Key Findings of the Report

  • To preserve our existing way of life, we need the equivalent of 1.6 Earths, and ecosystems can't keep up with our needs.
