Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2026
On 8th February 2026, Tejaswin Shankar won a historic gold medal in the men’s heptathlon at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tianjin, China.
- He secured the top position with a record-breaking 5,993 points.
- The performance set a new national indoor record, surpassing his previous best of 5,650 points achieved in 2021.
- This was India’s only gold medal at the championship.
- India finished the tournament with a total of five medals and secured sixth place in the overall standings.
