On 5th November 2025, the Lok Sabha Speaker paid tribute to freedom fighter Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das on his birth anniversary.
About Chittaranjan Das
- Chittaranjan Das (1870–1925), revered as Deshbandhu or Friend of the Nation, was known for his selfless leadership and commitment to India’s freedom struggle.
Legal Contributions
- He successfully defended Aurobindo Ghose in the Alipore Bomb Case in 1908.
- He also served as the defence counsel in the Dacca Conspiracy Case during 1910–11.
Role in the Freedom Movement
- Actively participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement in 1920.
- Was elected President of the Indian National Congress at the 1922 Gaya session in Bihar.
