- The Report paints a picture of a system grappling with structural deficits, high pendency and opaque data.
Major Issues Highlighted
Pendency of Cases in Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs)
- As of 31 October 2023, India’s 362 Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) were handling a total of 100,904 pending cases, with over 55% still unresolved.
- The significant backlog in cases hampers the swift and effective functioning of the juvenile justice system.
