Policy Measures to Address Low Female Participation
According to the India Labour and Employment Report 2014 [prepared by the Institute for Human Development (IHD), New Delhi], the low labour force participation in India is largely because the female LFPR, which is amongst the lowest in the world and the second lowest in South Asia after Pakistan. The participation of women in the labour force and employment rates are heavily impacted by economic, social and cultural issues and care work distributions in the home (Human Development Report-HDR, 2015).
