Origins of Fast Radio Bursts
A recent study by an international team of astronomers uncovered significant insights into fast radio bursts (FRBs).
About FRB
- FRBs originate from far outside the Milky Way, and they're probably produced from the cinders of dying stars. While many astronomical radio waves have been observed to have burst only once, some waves have been seen bursting multiple times.
- These fleeting bursts of radio waves from distant galaxies have puzzled scientists for over 15 years.
About the Study
- The study focused on a repeating FRB, FRB 20190520B, allowing researchers to investigate its local environment and shed light on its sources.
