Kaladan MTTP Project: A Strategic Gateway to Southeast Asia

On 30th April 2025, the Union Cabinet approved the development of a 166.80 km greenfield high-speed corridor from Mawlyngkhung in Meghalaya to Panchgram in Assam on hybrid annuity mode, enhancing connectivity with the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project (KMTTP) and integrating the Northeast into a high-speed road network.

The KMTTP, launched in collaboration with Myanmar, forms a key part of India’s ‘Act East’ policy, designed to improve trade and connectivity with Southeast Asia.
