5th BIMSTEC Summit
Recently, the 5th Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) was held. The summit was hosted in virtual mode by Sri Lanka, the current chair of BIMSTEC.

- Theme: The 5th BIMSTEC Summit’s theme is “Towards a Resilient Region, Prosperous Economies, Healthy People”.
- The theme captures the efforts by BIMSTEC to develop cooperation activities that support member state’s programme to deal with the economic and development consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- BIMSTEC Charter: The main outcome of the 5th BIMSTEC Summit was the adoption and signing of the BIMSTEC Charter.
