Forest (Conservation) Rules, 2022
Forest (Conservation) Rules, 2022 was promulgated solely to implement the provisions of the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980. The Rules do not inhibit the commencement of processes envisaged in other laws like Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, Land Acquisition Act, 1896, Forest Rights Act, 2006, etc.
Major Provisions
- The Forest (Conservation) Rules, 2022 allows private developers to clear forests without first seeking the permission of the forest dwellers. It means that the Union government has the right to permit the clearance of a forest without informing its authentic residents.
