Reason for Launch of NCM
The Khilafat Movement and the Non-Cooperation Movement (NCM) were both mass movements formed in 1919-1922 to oppose British rule in India.
- Despite their disparate issues, the movements adopted a unified plan of action based on non-violence and non-cooperation. During this time period, Congress and the Muslim League merged.
Reason for Launch of NCM
- The politically-conscious Muslims were critical of the treatment meted out to the Ottoman or Turkish Empire by Britain and its allies who had partitioned it and taken away Thrace from Turkey proper.
