India is rapidly advancing maritime decarbonisation as a central pillar of its climate policy, aiming for net-zero emissions at major ports by 2047 and full shipping sector decarbonisation by 2070. This sector-wide transition supports India's global commitments and aligns with international regulations set by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

- The Green Shipping Conclave 2025 marked India’s leadership in shaping global maritime decarbonisation frameworks, including clean fuel investments, green shipbuilding, and sustainable port operations.
- India is implementing the National Green Hydrogen Mission, targeting large-scale adoption of low- and zero-emissions fuels—green hydrogen, ammonia, biofuels, LNG—in shipping and port infrastructure.
