Technology in Disaster Risk Reduction and Response

India’s geographical profile makes it highly vulnerable to earthquakes, floods, droughts, cyclones, and climate-induced disasters. With rising frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, technology has emerged as a crucial enabler for early warning, preparedness, risk assessment, and post-disaster response.

The Sendai Framework (2015–2030) emphasizes the role of technology, innovation, and data in disaster risk reduction (DRR). India’s NDMA, IMD, ISRO, and CDRI are increasingly leveraging technology for climate-resilient disaster governance.
