Water Governance and River Rejuvenation

Water governance refers to the political, social, economic, and administrative systems that determine how water resources are managed and allocated. In India, with 18% of global population but only 4% of freshwater, water stress is a major challenge. Rivers, the lifelines of ecosystems and civilizations, face pollution, over-extraction, encroachments, and climate variability. River rejuvenation has thus become central to sustainable development.
