With a view to provide support to old and differently abled passengers requiring assistance at the stations, Ministry of Railways has introduced Yatri Mitra Sewa in 2016 for enabling passengers to book wheelchair services cum porter services.
A Yatri Mitra can either be a Sahayak or any other person provided (or appointed) by IRCTC. This service is available at major stations only.
The government has challenges for the employment of ethical person for such noble duties. Only announcing of this scheme is not sufficient but the application is more important as its introduction.
