CAR T-cell Therapy: Heralding a New Era in Cancer Treatment
In a significant development, on 4th June, 2021, India’s first CAR-T cell therapy was done at the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) in Mumbai, starting a new chapter in cancer care in the country. This was made possible through a fruitful collaboration between the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
Immunotherapy
- Also called biologic therapy, it refers to a type of cancer treatment that boosts the body's natural defenses to fight cancer, using substances produced by the body or in laboratory to restore or improve immune system function.
