Govt Targets 20-30% Drop in Air Pollution in 102 Cities By 2024
The Centre has fixed a target of reducing air pollution by 20-30% from the current level in 102 cities across the country by 2024. The target is part of the environment ministry’s National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) which is to be released in the next few days.
Besides Delhi, the cities in the list include Mumbai, Pune, Varanasi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Jammu, Patiala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patna and Hyderabad among others.
A non-attainment city is considered to have air quality worse than the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. The national move is aimed at addressing the problem of air ....
