Revisiting History: Third Battle of Panipat
Recently the Embassy of Afghanistan raised concerns regarding the insensitive and distorted contents of the movie ‘Panipat’ which can be exploited by others to provoke the emotions of Afghans against India.
Third Battle of Panipat
- The Third battle of Panipat was fought between a northern expeditionary force of the Maratha Empire and a coalition of the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Durrani (also called Ahmad Shah Abdali) with two Indian Muslim allies—the Rohilla Afghans of the Doab, and Shuja-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Oudh on 14th January 1761 in Panipat.
