India Creates an Indo-Pacific Division
- India has set up an Indo-Pacific division in the foreign office i.e. Ministry of External Affairs. The new division would give a coherent architecture to the Indo-Pacific policy, which was highlighted by Indian PM at the Shangri-La Dialogue 2018.
- This signifies the rising importance of the Indo-Pacific region for India and the world. Recently the US also renamed its Pacific Command to the Indo-Pacific Command to give more credence to this region.
