UNCTAD Releases the Trade and Development Report
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) made its updated projection in a trade and development report that was released on 22nd April.
Key Features of the Report
- According to the report, released by the UNCTAD, titled ‘The COVID-19 Shock to Developing Countries — “Towards a ‘whatever it takes’ programme for the developing nations being left behind’, commodity-rich exporting countries will face a $3 trillion drop in investments from overseas in the next two years.”
- Developing countries’ repayments on their public external debt alone may soar to between US$2.6 trillion and $3.4 trillion in the current and next year ....
