Sagittarius A*: A Black hole at the Centre of the Milky Way
According to a recently published study, the black hole — called Sagittarius A* — is hungrier than ever before, consuming unusually large amounts of dust and gas. Researchers at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) are still trying to ascertain the reason for such unusual activity.
Recent Observations
- A supermassive black hole sits 26,000 light years away from Earth, near the Galactic Centre, or the centre of the Milky Way. Since the discovery of Sagittarius A* 24 years ago, it has been fairly calm.
