India’s Approach
- Strategic Autonomy Approach: To increase its policy space, India has adopted the strategic autonomy strategy. For instance, by prioritising national interest over bloc politics, India was able to negotiate reduced prices for oil, fertiliser, and other commodities from Russia, while diplomatic activism enabled India to remove around 22,500 Indians and foreigners from 18 nations in a mission mode (Operation Ganga).
