46th Session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC)

The 46th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) was hosted by India from July 21 to 31, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The session was organized by UNESCO and focused on the conservation, management, and recognition of World Heritage properties across the globe.

Key Outcomes of the Meeting

  • A total of 24 new World Heritage Sites were inscribed during the session, including 19 cultural, 4 natural, and 1 mixed site.
  • On July 26, 2024, the Moidams of Assam were officially declared as India’s 43rd World Heritage Site.
  • The meeting emphasized global cooperation in preserving cultural heritage and biodiversity.
