World Social Report 2025

The United Nations World Social Report 2025 was released on April 24, 2025, by UN DESA in collaboration with UNU-WIDER.

The report aims to address rising global inequality, economic insecurity, and declining public trust through inclusive policy solutions and renewed multilateralism.

Global Trends & Challenges

  • Economic Insecurity is Widespread: 60% of the global population fears job loss; over 690 million still live in extreme poverty.
  • Income Inequality has worsened in Two-Thirds of Countries: The richest 1% own more wealth than 95% of the world population. Over 1 billion people have been lifted out of extreme poverty since 1995.
