The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) released its Arms Transfers Report on March 10, 2025.

The report analyses global trends in arms exports and imports between 2020–24, focusing on security, supply dynamics, and geopolitical shifts.

Global Rankings & Trends

  • The overall volume of global arms transfers remained steady compared to 2010–14 and 2015–19, though it was 18% higher than 2005–09.
  • The USA retained its top position with 43% share of global arms exports (a 21% rise from 2015–19), exporting to 107 countries.
  • France and Russia ranked 2nd and 3rd, while China ranked 4th with 5.9% share, facing political resistance.
