India - France

India and France have traditionally enjoyed close and friendly relations. France was the first country with which India launched a strategic partnership on 26 January 1998. This partnership is anchored in defence, nuclear energy, space, and Indo-Pacific cooperation.

  • In recent years, it has expanded to include maritime security, digital and cyber cooperation, counter-terrorism, climate, and sustainable development.

  • 8th Edition of Shakti-2025: The eighth edition of the joint military exercise “Shakti-2025” was held between India and France from 18 June to 1 July at La Cavalerie, France.
