Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2024

The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2024 was released by Transparency International in February 2025.

The index ranks 180 countries based on perceived public-sector corruption using data from 13 independent expert and business sources.

Key Findings

  • The global average score was 43/100, indicating persistent public-sector corruption worldwide.
  • Two-thirds of countries scored below 50, reflecting poor anti-corruption performance.
  • Democratic strength correlated with CPI scores: full democracies averaged 73, flawed democracies 47, and authoritarian regimes 33.
  • Denmark topped the index with a score of 90, followed by Finland (88) and Singapore (84).
  • New Zealand (83) fell from the top 3 for the first time since 2012.
