The Rule of Law Index 2024, released in October 2024 by the World Justice Project (WJP), evaluates 142 countries on adherence to the rule of law based on eight indicators, aiming to track governance quality, civil liberties, and legal protections.

Key Highlights

  • Top performers globally include Denmark (1st), Norway (2nd), Finland (3rd), and Sweden (4th), with Germany (5th) as the top G7 country.
  • Singapore (10th) ranks high for absence of corruption and regulatory enforcement, setting global benchmarks.
  • South Asia ranks: Nepal (69), Sri Lanka (75), India (79), Bangladesh (127), Pakistan (129), and Afghanistan (140).
