Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (GMPI) 2024 and Gender Development Index (GDI) 2023

The Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (GMPI) 2024 and Gender Development Reports were released as part of the Human Development Report (HDR) 2025 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), assessing poverty and gender inequality in 112–172 countries.

MPI is published annually by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative.

Indicators

  • The index utilizes 10 indicators across these three dimensions.
  • The ten indicators of poverty used in the MPI include:
    1. child mortality,
    2. nutrition,
    3. years of schooling,
    4. school attendance,
    5. cooking fuel,
    6. sanitation,
    7. drinking water,
    8. electricity,
    9. housing, and
    10. assets.
