GI-Tagged Indi Lime from Karnataka Enters Oman Market
On 19 December 2025, nearly 3 metric tonnes (MTs) of GI-tagged Indi lime from Vijayapura district in Karnataka were exported to Oman. It marked the entry of this unique citrus fruit into another global market.
- Also known as Kagzi lemon, it is known for its superior quality, zesty aroma, high juice yield and balanced acidity.
- Its distinctive flavour and geographical uniqueness make it a hallmark of the region’s agricultural excellence.
- Along with its culinary applications, the lime is also valued in traditional medicine and cultural practices
- It got the GI tag in 2023.
