Draft Sagarmala Innovation and Start-up Policy
On 10th April, 2023, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways issued the Sagarmala Innovation and Start-up Policy to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the maritime sector in India.
Need
- India comprises a significant size maritime sector with 7,500 km long coastline and a vast network of 14,500 km of potentially navigable waterways.
- Due to strategic location on key international maritime trade routes; lndia has embarked on the ambitious Sagarmala Programme to promote port-led development in the country.
- The vision is to reduce logistics cost for EXIM and domestic trade with minimal infrastructure investment and this vision is being realized ....
