Answer: The Government of Uttar Pradesh formulated its first Forest Policy in 1998. However, after the formation of Uttarakhand in 2000, the forest area in the state was significantly reduced. Consequently, the need for a new forest policy was consistently felt. In this context, the state introduced its new Forest Policy in the year 2017.

Major Objectives of the Policy
