Answer: Under Article 153 of the Indian Constitution, the Governor is the constitutional head of the state. While the office is largely considered ceremonial, the Governor plays a significant role in the functioning of the state government. In a vast and politically sensitive state like Uttar Pradesh, the Governor’s role becomes even more crucial. Since the constitutional provisions regarding the Governor apply uniformly across all Indian states, the same apply to Uttar Pradesh as well.
