Investment and Infrastructure: Strengthening Connectivity, Capacity and Competitiveness
- Capital Expenditure: Government capex rose 4.2x from Rs.2.63 lakh crore (FY18) to Rs.11.21 lakh crore (FY26 BE); effective capex stands at Rs.15.48 lakh crore for FY26 (BE).
- Highways: National Highways network expanded 60% from 91,287 km (FY14) to 1,46,572 km (Dec FY26); High-Speed Corridors grew 10x from 550 km to 5,364 km.
- Railways: Total network reached 69,439 route km (March 2025) with a 3,500 km target for FY26; 99.1% electrification achieved by Oct 2025.
- Aviation: Now the world’s 3rd largest domestic market; airport count increased from 74 (2014) to 164 (2025).
- Power & Renewables: Capacity reached 509.74 GW (Nov 2025) ....
