Pennaiyar River Dispute
On 14th March, 2023, the time limit fixed by the Supreme Court for the constitution of an inter-State river water disputes tribunal for Pennaiyar River got expired.
- In December, 2022, the Supreme Court asked the Centre to constitute within three months the Pennaiyar River Water Tribunal to resolve the dispute over the sharing of water between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Constitutional Provisions for Inter-State Water Disputes
- Art 262 provides for the adjudication of inter-state water disputes. It has two following provisions:
