Centre Bans Export of Sensitive Maps and Geospatial Data
On 23th September, 2022, the government released a list of economic- and national security-related strategic and sensitive locations that cannot be mapped and exported.
- The move comes after India opened up geospatial data mapping last year for wider public use and to empower the industry.
Purpose
- The prohibition of export of maps and data of specified spatial accuracy was made to maintain the security of the country.
