Navi Mumbai Airport Approved as Port of Entry for Drug Imports
In July 2026, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare notified Navi Mumbai Airport, Maharashtra as a designated port for the import of drugs under the Drugs Rules, 1945, to strengthen pharmaceutical logistics and facilitate ease of trade.
- The move aims to facilitate smoother movement of pharmaceutical consignments, improve logistics infrastructure, provide greater flexibility to importers, and promote Ease of Doing Business in the pharmaceutical sector.
- The Government amended Rule 43A of the Drugs Rules, 1945 to include Navi Mumbai Airport in the list of airports through which drugs can be imported into India.
