Scholarship Schemes for Minorities
- Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a First Information Report (FIR) into a minority scholarship ‘scam’, in which 830 “fake” institutions had received benefits.
- The Ministry of Minority Affairs runs three scholarship schemes for the students of six minority communities:
- Pre-matric scholarship helps minority students of families with annual income below Rs. 1 lakh.
- Post-matric scholarships provide scholarships to meritorious students belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of minority communities to enhance their employability and offer them better opportunities for higher education.
