AUSINDEX 2019

The third edition of AUSINDEX, i.e. ‘Australia-India Exercise’ which is a bilateral maritime exercise between two countries took place at Visakhapatnam in April 2019.

  • The aim of this biennial exercise is to strengthen and enhance mutual cooperation and interoperability between the Indian Navy and Royal Australian Navy, providing opportunities for interaction and exchange of professional views between the personnel of the two navies.
  • The exercise underscores India’s vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) and shared objectives of the two countries and solidarity with friendly countries.
  • The joint naval drill during the exercise was focused on Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW).
  • The Indian Navy was represented by INS Ranvijay, a multi-role destroyer, INS Sahyadri, a multi-role stealth frigate, INS Kora, a missile corvette, INS Kiltan, an ASW Corvette and INS Sindhukirti, a conventional submarine.
