India and Maldives, these two countries signed a slew of six agreements to strengthen bilateral ties in a number of key areas including defence and maritime amid increasing Chinese inroads in the Indian Ocean Region.
The two countries agreed on the importance of maintaining peace and security in the Indian Ocean Region, and to strengthen coordination in enhancing maritime security in the region, through coordinated patrolling and aerial surveillance, exchange of information, and capacity building.
