Ease of Doing Business Report

The report is published by World Bank and provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement across 190 economies

  • The Doing Business Report ranks countries on the basis of Distance to Frontier (DTF), a score that shows the gap of an economy to the global best practice.
  • The report ranks states on 10 parameters that affects a business throughout its life cycle:
    • Starting a business
    • Getting electricity
    • Dealing with construction permits
    • Registering property
    • Protecting investors
    • Access to credit
    • Employing workers
    • Trading across borders
    • Paying taxes
    • Enforcing contracts
    • Resolving insolvency
  • India has made significant improvements in its ranking by jumping 14 points to 63 rank among 190 countries (in 2019 report). The most dramatic improvements made have been registered with indicators related to “Construction Permits” and “Trading across borders”.
