Global Competitiveness Index

The index is released annually by World Economic Forum (WEF) in its Global Competitiveness Report.

  • The index is measured by 12 pillars which indicate how a country scores in the scale of global competitiveness
  • The parameters of the index include institutions, macro-economic environment, infrastructure, health and primary education, higher education and training, labor market efficiency, goods and market efficiency among others.
  • India slipped down ten places to be ranked 68th in the annual Global Competitiveness Index 2019. India was ranked at the 58th position in the 2018 edition.
