The index is released annually by World Economic Forum (WEF) in its Global Competitiveness Report.
The index is measured by 12 pillars which indicate how a country scores in the scale of global competitiveness
The parameters of the index include institutions, macro-economic environment, infrastructure, health and primary education, higher education and training, labor market efficiency, goods and market efficiency among others.
India slipped down ten places to be ranked 68th in the annual Global Competitiveness Index 2019. India was ranked at the 58th position in the 2018 edition.
