It was launched in 2014 with the aim to encourage higher education among economically weaker students and increase the enrollment ratio in the north-eastern region. It is administered by UGC.
Ishan Uday scholarship disburses a total of 10,000 scholarships for NER students, Rs. 7800/month to selected students pursuing technical education and Rs. 5400/month to students pursuing general degree courses.
These kind of targeted schemes help to address the regional educational disparity and hence must be promoted.
