U.S. Formally Rejoins Paris Climate Agreement
The U.S., under new President Joe Biden, has officially rejoined the Paris climate change agreement on February 19, 2021.
- This puts environmental policy at the centre of his agenda and prepares to work with world leaders to cut global greenhouse gas emissions.
- It would be 107 days after US’s withdrawal under the Donald Trump administration became formal on November 4, 2020.
- Under the agreement’s rules, a country can formally re-enter the pact 30 days after it gives notice to the United Nations.
