World Economic Forum's Energy Transition Index 2026
On 18th June 2026, the World Economic Forum (WEF) released the Energy Transition Index (ETI) 2026, in which India improved two places to rank 70th, emerging as one of the strongest performers in energy transition readiness despite a global slowdown.
What is ETI?
- About: It tracks energy transition progress across 120 countries by assessing current energy system performance and future readiness.
- Tracking Parameters: The index evaluates 120 countries using 44 indicators across two major pillars.
- Current System Performance: The index benchmarks national energy systems across the dimensions of security, sustainability, and equity.
