On 14th September, 2021, Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University in Aligarh.
About Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh
- He was born into a royal family in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh in 1886.
- An alumnus of the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental Collegiate School later called Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
- In 1957, Mahendra Pratap contested elections as an independent and defeated former Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee, then a Jan Sangh candidate, from Mathura in western Uttar Pradesh.
- He is popularly known as "Aryan Peshwa".
